We are taking precautions to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  Therefore, the City of Lorain Income Tax Department 

Is open Monday – Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm 

 

Completed returns, tax documents, payments and extension requests may be dropped off in the drop off slot located at 605 W. 4th St. Lorain, OH 44052.  Staff will be available Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm for walk-ins to process your returns or answer any questions you may have. You can call the office Monday thru Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm @ 440-204-1002 or by email at incometax@cityoflorain.org.

 

Tax Preparation Services Available

 

Your return will be prepared by our staff based on the information you provide. Along with a copy of the first page of your IRS 1040 form, it will be necessary to include a copy of each W2 form, any IRS forms showing income or loss such as Schedule C, E, or F and 1099s showing miscellaneous income not being reported on an IRS Schedule C. Please include your phone number in case we need to reach you for further information. 

 

The IRS tax filing deadline has been extended until May 17, 2021. 

We have extended hours the week of May 10, 2021 to May 14, 2021 and May 17, 2021 from 9-7pm. 

The City of Lorain Income Tax Department will also extend their deadline to May 17, 2021 to file and pay but encourages people to get their returns in early, if possible.

The 2021 declaration of estimates will also be extended to pay 

for the first quarter to May 17, 2021.

The City of Lorain has agreed to participate in the Lorain County Emergency Alert system and we encourage all Lorain citizens to sign up for the 15 alerts available. By signing up here, you will receive Lorain County emergency alerts and public service announcements. In the event of an emergency, an alert may be sent to the phone number(s) you provide and/or your email address.

Hard line “land line” phones that are listed in the white pages across the county are already in the system.
