Playground Program

School is out, and summer is just around the corner!  For parents work is a part of the daily schedule, but for your children, the most enjoyable time of the year is about to begin.

If you are overwhelmed by trying to plan entertaining activities for your children, look no further.  Let the Lorain Parks and Recreation Department do it for you!  Our Summer Activities Program begins June 11 and ends on August 10.  It is geared for Lorain children, ages 7 through 12, who want to have a fun summer.  The following parks will be open to have some “Fun in the Sun.”

• Lakeview
• Oakwood
• Streator
• Homewood

The Lorain Parks & Recreation Department Summer Activities program will be open from 9:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon, then from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. Monday through Friday.  Each day the Parks will provide activities for all children ages 7 to 12.  Parks will be closed from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 P.M., unless a field trip has been scheduled.  Supervisors are not responsible for your child at this time.  Supervisors are also not responsible for your child before 9:00 A.M. or after 4:00 P.M.  The program ends daily at 4:00 P.M.

All guardians are required to complete permission slips for children to attend field trips, and are encouraged to participate in activities with their children.

The park will be staffed with qualified supervisors, usually two (2) per events.

There are many events planned during our eight-week program, such as field trips, arts & crafts, educational projects, swimming, and other enjoyable activities. Nominal fees apply to cover the cost of the field trips.
