Property Maintenance 

On April 2, 2007 the City of Lorain passed legislation (Ordinance 43-07) to replace its current property maintenance codes with the International Property Maintenance Codes published by the International Code Council (ICC). Cost

There is a cost for a copy of these codes as explained on the ICC website.

Reporting Properties with High Grass

For anyone wishing to report a property that has tall grass, please email us or call 440-204-2283. If you receive the voicemail greeting, please leave a message.

*NOTICE*

The notice for high grass was published in The Morning Journal.

To all property owners, Chapter 557 of the City of Lorain Codified Ordinances requires property owners to maintain their property free of noxious weeds and high grass. As set forth in Ordinance #179-20, all property owners are hereby duly notified that the City of Lorain may take action necessary to abate high grass and/or noxious weeds exceeding eight (8) inches in height during the 2023 calendar year.

Property owners will be assessed a minimum of $300.00 each time the City must contract to abate high grass and/or noxious weeds on private property. The City is authorized to lien properties for any and all unpaid abatement costs.
