Joel Arredondo is currently serving his tenth term as the President of Lorain City Council. He was born and raised in South Lorain. Joel is a Graduate of Admiral King High Class of ’65. He earned his BA degree with a double major in History and Spanish, along with a minor in Business Administration from Kent State University in 1972. Joel was in Restaurant Management for 15 years and had been in auto sales for the past 35 years, where he retired from Sunnyside Toyota in North Olmsted in 2021.

Personal Life

Joel and his wife Joyce Ferlic-Arredondo have been married for 43 glorious years and  are the proud parents of Mia, who is married to Aaron Simmons, aka Jevon Terance, fashion designer, and is employed at NASA in Brookpark and Andy, who is married to Ashley, graduated from the University of Central Florida and is owner/operator of his surgical & medical sales business. Joel is the proud papa of his grandchildren, Lilly, Parker Henry and Evie Kate. 

Involvement

Joel is President of the Mexican Mutual Society, a member of the Lorain County Democratic Party Executive Committee, St. Frances Cabrini Church Finance Committee member,  Board member of Main Street Lorain, a member in good standing of the NAACP, Lorain County Urban League and the Lorain Historical Society. Joel is past president of Coalition for Hispanic Issues and Progress (CHIP) (2002-2012). He is also a past board member of the Greater Lorain County Community Foundation (2004-2014) and past Vice-President of the Community Foundation Hispanic Fund,  Joel appreciates the confidence and trust he has earned from the voting public to allow him to continue to Listen, Learn, and Lead.
